Lynchburg, Virginia Social Life

Real Estate

If you are a new resident of Lynchburg VA, or just a local looking for something to do, I have compiled a post with a few places that will help you get into the groove of the Lynchburg scene.

If you want to learn some new dance moves or join others who have a love for salsa dancing, check out Lynchburg Salsa located at 1019 Jefferson St, at the Glass House in downtown Lynchburg. Salsa is now on Thursday nights which kicks off with the beginner’s salsa lessons at 8 PM, followed by social dancing, from 9 PM – 11 PM. It’s only a $5 cover charge for the whole night. This is a family-friendly environment with no tolerance for alcohol or tobacco use. You do not need to be registered or have a partner to participate. You can find out additional information located on their website: www.lynchburgsalsa.com. I've heard great things from several friends, and this option definitely sounds like fun if you want to cut loose and just dance it out.

Need a place to unwind or to stop and grab a cold drink after work? Then you might want to check out Bootleggers Burgers. It's a Prohibition Pub that recently opened on November 25th, 2016 and it's located in downtown Lynchburg. “Bootleggers is an All-American bar centered around beer, bourbon, and burgers.” There is a variety of 35 different bourbons you can choose from. Although this restaurant hasn’t yet been open for a full month, it seems to have a great vibe for someone looking for a true bar feel. Someone who was the first to give a review on Yelp had this say about the new restaurant:
“From the moment you walk in the door, you’re welcomed by fantastic staff and amazed by the well-designed layout and beauty!

The menu has lot of options on gourmet burgers, great beer selection, bourbon and guaranteed to please all.

It's the perfect place for an intimate dinner or to take a group for drinks and appetizers.

Did I mention how incredible the staff is!!!”
Even if you’re working a late shift, you still have time to grab a brew and burger as they’re open from 4pm–11pm.

Lastly, El Jefe Taqueria Garaje — “roughly translated into “the boss of the food garage”, opened in late September of 2015. El Jefe Taqueria is a local tequila bar that was once a garage, also located in downtown Lynchburg. Happy Hour is from 4pm-7pm, but if you like to socialize during much later hours, they stay open until 1 AM, Thursday-Saturday. Their popular seller are their tacos, with a variety to choose from; Shredded Beef, Slow-Roasted Chicken and Chorizo, which is a Spicy Mexican Sausage. It seats 38 inside and 24 outside, on two tiered patios overlooking the Bluffwalk and the James River. Stocked with 85 different tequilas that’s available to you in long or short pours, I’m positive you’ll have no problem choosing something that tantalizes. For more information, check out their website at www.eljefetaqueriagaraje.com.
